I subscribe to a strength-based wellness model of human development and behavior. I believe that the major challenge and goal of therapy is to facilitate insight and use that insight to foster new behaviors that lead to a happier life. People often have difficulty recognizing their strengths and competencies and in knowing how best to manage their limitations. I will work with you to find, use, accommodate for and honor them.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and National Certified Counselor specializing in clinical counseling and psychotherapy for individuals, couples, families and groups. I have experience working with adolescents, adults and elders. I have worked with individuals coping with a wide variety issues which include, but are not limited to, depression, anger, anxiety, phobias, trauma and abuse, self esteem, stress, grief, life stage transitions and interpersonal relationships. I have partnered with clients whose specific goals were better met with a coaching strategy, and I am trained and experienced in assessing, diagnosing and treating the full spectrum of mental illnesses and personality disorders.
The joys and sorrows that you have known, with whom you share your life and the work that you do have all influenced who you are and where you hope to go. I strive to adapt my therapeutic approach to fit each of my clients' individual needs and preferences. In addition to empirically supported techniques, you can expect my warm and sincere regard, constructive feedback and an encouraging and hopeful environment that will honor your perspective and partner with you to insure a positive outcome.
